What is Trimper Rides?
Trimper Rides is the family-run amusement operation at the southern end of the Ocean City Boardwalk, in business since the 1890s and among the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in the country. It is best known for its antique carousel, which has turned in the same corner of town since the early 1900s, and for a compact indoor and outdoor collection of classic children's rides. Operating calendars are seasonal and change year to year, so confirm hours before promising a child a ride.

What kind of rides these are
These rides are for small children. The appeal is nostalgia rather than thrill engineering. Small coasters, a haunted house, hand-painted animals on the carousel, and rides that parents recognize from their own childhood. Teenagers looking for height and speed usually prefer the pier operation a short walk away.
Why the carousel matters
The carousel is the town's longest continuity. The same hand-carved animals are still turning in a place that has otherwise rebuilt itself many times over. For a lot of returning families it is the first stop of the trip, and it is the closest thing the Boardwalk has to a heritage site that is also a ride.
Planning a Trimper Rides visit
Buy for the group you have. A wristband assumes more stamina than most small children bring. The Inlet lot and the Life-Saving Station Museum are both a short walk away, which makes this corner an easy hour to build around when the weather is uncertain.
