What is street-end parking?

Street-end parking refers to the metered or time-limited spaces at the ocean end of Ocean City's numbered streets, immediately beside the dune crossover. It is how most visitors reach the beach outside downtown: park at a street end, walk over the dune, and set up. Rates, time limits, and payment methods are set by the Town and enforced actively in season, and availability drops sharply between mid-morning and late afternoon on summer days.

How to find a space without circling

Time it, do not hunt. Arrive before mid-morning or after the mid-afternoon turnover, when the morning beach crowd leaves and the evening crowd has not arrived. Move a few blocks north of wherever you first tried; density falls with each block away from a major intersection. Circling the same three streets is the least effective search pattern and the most common one.

Meters, apps, and enforcement

Pay by station or app. Seasonal hours decide when payment is required at all. Enforcement is real and a ticket costs more than the day's parking. Set a phone alarm for the meter expiry, because beach days routinely run longer than the parking session anyone bought.

When to skip street parking entirely

Staying on the island? Walking or biking to the beach removes the problem entirely, and it usually takes less time than driving eight blocks and parking. Street-end parking is best understood as a tool for day visitors and for gear-heavy trips, not as the default way to reach sand you could walk to.
