When is the off-season in Ocean City?
Off-season in Ocean City runs from late fall through early spring. Boardwalk rides, watersports operators, the tram, and many seasonal restaurants close, guarded beach coverage ends, and lodging rates drop to their annual low. What remains is the coast itself: an empty beach, long walks, year-round restaurants, museums, the arts center, and the Winterfest of Lights display. It is a real destination for a quiet weekend, provided nobody in the group expects the summer version of the town.

What stays open
More than you would think. Year-round restaurants, some hotels, the Life-Saving Station Museum on a reduced schedule, the Art League, the library, and the Boardwalk itself as a walking surface. West Ocean City retains groceries, the outlets, and dockside seafood. Assateague stays open all year and is at its best without heat, crowds, or insects.
Storms and the winter beach
Nor'easters arrive in this window and reshape the beach, sometimes dramatically. A winter storm makes for spectacular watching from a safe distance and genuine hazard at the water line. Coastal flooding on the bayside is a routine winter event. Check forecasts and take road closures seriously.

Couples and walkers, mostly. Photographers, off-season anglers, and families who want the Winterfest lights without the summer price. It does not suit anyone whose plan depends on rides, water activities, or a busy nightlife, because those simply are not operating.
